In the Family

Please allow a sidenote from today's Academy antics...

My Great-Grandfather was a Police Officer. Walter Johnson (my mother's father's father) was a Police Officer, and a Motor-Cop at that, in Spokane, Washington. Walter later became a detective and many of his stories are featured in 1940s/1950s detective magazines.

His son, Sydney, was also a Police Officer. My Grandfather entered WWII when he was 17 and when he returned, he followed in the footsteps of his father and became a Police Officer as well.

Did I ever think I would marry a man who wanted to become a Police Officer? Nope. Not at all. Yet, God had different plans for me. I should have known that this was to be, though. I always loved looking at pictures of my Grandfather in his Police uniform and hearing all of his stories about his Police days. He always said "I never once regretted going to work and I always woke up the next day excited to go back".

Now that this adventure has started, I think about what kinds of stories our kids and grandkids will hear about Wes and what he is doing. My husband is an amazing story-teller so I am sure that whatever happens, it will be an Epic Tale to be told!
