Bak to skool...bac too sckoool...
I can honestly say that I have never been as anxious driving in the snow as I have this winter. The road conditions are ridiculous and people here think that since they have a four wheel drive vehicle that means that they can drive however they wish. False. You may not and cannot drive any way you wish...especially if your city decides not to plow neighborhoods. Now I realize that this freak storm was not in the budget, but manoman!!
For example: on this beautiful Super Bowl Sunday, my husband and I trekked out to our friend's house to join her and her daughter for the game. The roads were clear on the way there, no problems at all. Once we hit her neighborhood, it was a white-knuckle experience. Well...for me as the passenger at least. I'll admit that I squeezed my eyes shut when turning corners on a slide. I probably didn't have to, as my husband is a seasoned driver from many Michigan winters. Thank the Lord for him!!
Wes went back to work on Friday. He had to work 12 hour days both Friday and Saturday. We got him some bibs and he wore what he had to keep warm on both mornings because he had to shovel at the academy. After that was mostly classwork. Because of this classwork and paperwork, Wes had the idea that he should get a binder to keep him organized!! I was shocked, as I am sure most of you who know Wes are right now as well. I was surprised that this "I don't take notes" man decided to a) organized himself and b) take in-depth notes. If only his college classes grasped his full attention and love like these do?! Where would we be today...haha :o) Frankly, I am glad that he is enjoying himself. I actually think that shining his boots actually is therapeutic to him now. The faces he makes while he makes while he does it are a comic relief for me!
We are both going back to work tomorrow. I am surprised by this since all the schools in this area are closed, including our competition private schools in the area. I'll be going in my bibs over my school clothes tomorrow as I am sure that I will be helping dig-out people at drop-off and pick-up. I am hoping that SOMEONE brings a shovel tomorrow because we still can't find one in the greater Broken Arrow area..they are completely SOLD OUT. Crazy.
And what do you know, we're getting another 7"-10" of snow on Wednesday.
